Dakota Romo, School Director

Dakota was born and raised here in Central Texas. She has been passionate about Early Childhood Education since graduating High School, she taught for eight years in the twos and toddlers age group and then moved into leadership for Preschools. Dakota enjoys creating a warm and inviting community for all of her families. Her goal is to one day own her own school and she is currently working to further this dream as she completes her Bachelor of Business Administration. Dakota has been married to her husband for 9 years and has two daughters Eralynn and Esli. They also have a Great Dane named Arya! They love to spend time hiking, grilling, and exploring different foods. Dakota is incredibly excited to welcome each family to Children's Lighthouse of Cedar Park! 

Celsey Bernal, Assistant Director of Operations

Celsey was born and raised right here in Leander.  She has always loved the early childhood education field, taking teaching courses starting in high school!  She has been with Children's Lighthouse for three years and has over seven years experience total in child care.  Celsey's dream is to one day own her own school.  She is currently working on attaining both her CDA (Child Development Associate) and Director's license.

Candice South, Assistant Director of Health & Safety

Candice started with Children's Lighthouse in January of 2023, bringing over 10 years of experience working in childcare facilities, behavioral hospitals and special needs care group homes.  She was born and raised in Chicago before moving to Texas with her husband in 2003.  Candice is a mother to six (four boys and two girls) and a grandmother to five.  Her profession and passion is childcare and cooking.  Candice believes in making a positive impact on ever child she encounters!

Jaymie Carey, Curriculum Coordinator

Jaymie was born and raised in Texas. She’s always had a passion for childcare, tutoring children in elementary and nannying for families. She started out as a Lead Teacher in our Sea Turtles two year old classroom before transitioning over into our Curriculum Coordinator position. She has received four business certificates online through Wharton and is currently working on acquiring her CDA. Her goal is to be able to help create an environment that feels like a second home to children, families, and staff. Her dream is to own her own daycare center one day and to become a children’s author.
